FUNCTIONS OF THE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM DEPARTMENT

Distribution

i.    Responsible to the Permanent Secretary and serve as the administrative Head of the Distribution Department;

ii.    Provide professional leadership for a team of electrical engineers to develop policies and programs for the development of the nations’ power distribution infrastructure;

iii.    Conduct a periodic review of compliance

iv.    level to load allocation by the electricity distribution companies during the transition electricity market;

v.    Liaise with the Transmission Company of Nigeria Plc to ensure alignment with initiatives in distribution sector and resolution of any possible interface challenges;

vi.    Provide technical and policy guidance on initiatives towards closing the metering gap at distribution level;

vii.    Periodic review and monitoring of the commercial performance of the distribution companies and advise the Permanent Secretary accordingly;

viii.    Liaise with Development Finance Institutions for areas of possible collaboration in the transmission sector;

ix.    Any other assignment that may be decided by the Permanent Secretary
